Il centro A.S.A.R.I. (Istituto di ricerca sull’agricoltura sostenibile africana) è una struttura di ricerca sull’insabbiamento dell’area desertica del Sahara e sulle tecniche di agricoltura sostenibile, voluto dal re del Marocco Mohammed VI per Phosboucraa Foundation & Ocp. Il progetto architettonico – di Bechu + Associés, Parigi, Francia – è pensato per creare un impatto minimo sull’ambiente in cui è inserito, con colori e forme presenti sul territorio, e con l’aggiunta di pareti protettive contro il forte vento in arrivo dal mare che attraversa gran parte del deserto prima di raggiungere la pianta. L’aggiunta delle pensiline a forma di diamante crea effetti luce-ombra simili a quelli delle oasi naturali, oltre a proteggere dal forte sole gli spazi esterni tra i vari laboratori. Tutte le foto sono state scattate a Laâyoune, Marocco, in luce diurna.

Winner of Loop Design Award 2022 – Category Architecture Exteriors

The A.S.A.R.I. (African Sustainable Agriculture research Institute) is a research center on the silting up of the Sahara desert area and sustainable agriculture techniques, wanted by the King of Morocco Mohammed VI for Phosboucraa Foundation & Ocp. The architectural project – by Bechu + Associés, Paris, France – is designed to create a minimal impact on the environment in which it is inserted, with colors and shapes present on the territory, and with the addition of
protective walls against the strong wind coming from the sea that crosses a large portion of the desert before reaching the plant. The addition of the multi-diamond canopy creates light- shadow effects similar to those found in natural oases, as well as protecting the outdoor spaces between the various laboratories from the strong sun.
